On Sunday, March 9th the Marlins Foundation hosted their annual Spring Training Youth Clinic at Roger Dean Stadium. VIP participants joined the Marlins on the field before the game to watch the players warm up during batting practice. After which, Clinic participants and their parents hit the stands to cheer on the Marlins as they faced the Detroit Tigers. After the game, the kids joined Rob Brantly in the batting cages, Nathan Eovaldi on the pitcher's mound, Derek Dietrich in the infield and Marcell Ozuna in the outfield for a one-on-one tutorials of baseball fundamentals.
Proceeds from the Clinic benefitted the Florida State League Program. For the fifteenth straight year, the Marlins Foundation has partnered with the Florida State League to provide scholarships to a student employee, child or grandchild of an employee of each of the Florida State League teams. The purpose of the program is to encourage and reward school age applicants and to send a message that education is the key to a successful life. Thank you to all the participants for supporting the Marlins Foundation's mission to improve the lives of South Florida youth through education, the arts and baseball.
