New York starter David Wells had to leave Thursday's game in the first inning with back problems and the Yankees' pen could not hold a slim one-run lead. Jose Contreras came on and gave up four runs in three innings for the loss. New York scored twice in the ninth, but its rally fell short.  Full story >

Brad Penny, making his second World Series start, pitched the Marlins to a 3-2 Series lead in the final game at Pro Player Stadium. He allowed two runs (one earned) over seven innings, while chipping in at the plate with a two-run single. Mike Lowell added a two-run single in the fifth.  Full story >
