CINCINNATI -- When the Reds reveal their first-round selections at the 2012 First-Year Player Draft, they will be turning to help from "The Mayor."
Former Reds first baseman Sean Casey -- a 2012 inductee to the Reds Hall of Fame -- will be the club's representative.
The annual First-Year Player Draft takes place from June 4-6, beginning with the first round and Comp Round A on Monday, June 4, at 7 p.m. ET. The first night of the event will be broadcast live on MLB Network and streamed live on MLB.com. Rounds 2-40 will also be streamed live on MLB.com on June 5-6.
MLB.com's coverage, sponsored by CenturyLink, will include Draft Central, the Top 100 Draft Prospects list, Draft Tracker, a live interactive application that includes a searchable database of every Draft-eligible player and Draft Caster. You can also keep up to date by following @MLBDraft on Twitter. And get into the Draft conversation by tagging your tweets with #mlbdraft.
Commissioner Bud Selig will announce all first-round picks, but Casey -- who is currently an analyst for MLB Network -- will be on hand to announce the supplemental or sandwich selections. The Reds have the 14th overall pick in the first round and the 49th and 57th overall picks in Comp Round A.
A member of the Reds from 1998-2005, Casey batted .305 in 1,075 games during those eight seasons. He also hit 118 home runs and had 604 RBIs and a .371 on-base percentage.
