Thanks to fan support, seven MLB clubs have earned $40,000 from Head & Shoulders, the official shampoo of Major League Baseball, for local Reviving Baseball in Inner Cities (RBI) programs through the "Season of the #Whiff" initiative, which has returned for the 2014 Regular Season.

Fans are encouraged to participate in the 2014 "Season of the #Whiff" monthly Twitter competition by tweeting "#Whiff," along with their favorite Club's twitter handle, each time they witness a strikeout during the Regular Season, whether in-stadium or watching the game on television or online. Each month, the seven MLB Clubs with the most "#Whiff" tweets will earn a donation. The following Clubs are receiving April donations for their chosen local RBI programs by finishing in the top seven this month:

  1. Los Angeles Dodgers (79,759 tweets) - $10,000 (total) for Dodgers RBI, Boys & Girls Club of Venice RBI and Boys & Girls Club of Burbank & Greater East Valley RBI
  2. Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim (28,411 tweets) - $7,500 for Angels RBI
  3. Milwaukee Brewers (27,958 tweets) - $7,500 for Milwaukee Brewers RBI
  4. Miami Marlins (12,771 tweets) - $5,000 for Marlins RBI and Lake Park RBI
  5. Pittsburgh Pirates (10,248 tweets) - $5,000 for Pittsburgh RBI

  7. Toronto Blue Jays (8,757 tweets) - $2,500 for Toronto Blue Jays Amateur Baseball Rookie League RBI

Additionally, for every strikeout recorded during the season, Head & Shoulders will automatically allocate an additional $1 donation to the national RBI program. Through April (405 games) there were 6,446 strikeouts ($6,446). The RBI program is the MLB youth initiative that provides young people from urban and underserved communities the opportunity to play baseball and softball, while encouraging academic success and achievement and teaching important life lessons and values.

Head & Shoulders donated more than $140,000 in 2013 to RBI, including local programs, and in 2014, expects to nearly double last year's contribution. Fans can track "#Whiff" tweets at MLB.com/whiff.
