Vice president of scouting Stan Meek announced that Miami had signed all the prospects the club picked between Compensation Round B and the 14th round during the event, which ran from June 4-6. That includes outfielder Kolby Copeland, the 127th overall pick out of Parkway High School in Los Angeles.
Among the other signees: outfielder Austin Dean (fourth round), shortstops Austin Nola (fifth) and Anthony Gomez (sixth), right-handers Ryan Newell (seventh), Drew Steckenrider (eighth) and Nicholas Wittgren (ninth) and third baseman Ron Miller (10th).
The team has yet to reach agreement with Andrew Heaney, a left-hander out of Oklahoma State, whom the club selected No. 9 overall. Miami also selected prep shortstop Avery Romero 13 picks before Copeland; the team has also yet to reach agreement with him.
All told on Monday, the Marlins added 11 right-handed pitchers, two left-handers, three outfielders, three shortstops, three third basemen, two catchers and a utility man to their farm system.
Blake Barber, a 5-foot-10 utility man from Lee University, was also signed as an undrafted free agent. Barber, who played second base at Lee, was named the player of the year in the Southern States Athletic Conference after hitting .438 with 27 extra-base hits.
