Rookie shortstop Chris Owings, who missed more than two months with a left shoulder injury he sustained in June, was scratched from Friday's lineup due to soreness in that shoulder. On Saturday, acting manager Alan Trammell confirmed that Owings would be relegated to pinch-running duties at most in order to prevent the injury from worsening.
