COACHING CAREER
• Jeff Urgelles begins his fourth full season and fifth overall with the Marlins as bullpen coordinator.

PLAYING CAREER
• Was a 26th-round selection of the Cincinnati Reds in 2003 First-Year Player Draft and spent three and a half seasons in the Reds' system before ending his career in the Blue Jays' organization. Had a .235 career average with eight home runs and 82 RBI in 192 games.
• In his first professional season, led the Gulf Coast League in doubles (20) and ranked third in extra-base hits (22). Posted a 5x5 game with five doubles, three runs scored and three RBI on July 17, 2003 at GCL Twins.

PERSONAL/MISCELLANEOUS
Jeffrey Urgelles...married to the former Melissa Diaz, and the couple has one daughter, Brianna...prior to joining the Marlins, Urgelles was a firefighter/paramedic for Miami-Dade Ambulance...graduated from Southwest Miami High School (FL)...earned his associate's degree in Liberal Arts from Broward Community College, where he was Second-Team All-Conference. Transferred to Savannah State University and was a First-Team All-Conference selection.
